Type SCHOOLAIR-B

Decentralised ventilation units type SCHOOLAIR-B provide an individual and energy-efficient ventilation of class rooms and other rooms in schools. These units maintain the air quality in rooms by supplying fresh air to the room and discharging exhaust air to outside.

Due to their low height and compact depth construction the units are particularly suited for refurbishment projects.Without major constructional changes the units can be easily integrated into the existing structure.

  • Horizontal installation under the sill
  • Mechanical ventilation with good acoustic performance
  • Integral heat recovery
  • Option with heat exchanger for heating and/or cooling
  • Quasi displacement flow
  • Energy efficient radial flow fans
  • Low sound power level

The ventilation units contain two energy-efficient fans, heat recovery and two filters. The units are fitted with an outer casing on-site by others or as an option delivered complete with outer casing including grilles.

Heating and, if chilled water is available, cooling of the room is possible with heat exchanger as an option. The heating capacity is sufficient to heat the supply air up to approx. 40 °C. Thus in many cases a static heating system is not necessary.

SCHOOLAIR-B is also available as an ready-to-operate system with control components for individual room control.
Ventilation units SCHOOLAIR-B maintain a high air quality in class rooms by supplying conditioned fresh air to the room and extracting ‘stale’ air.

Supply air
The supply air fan provides fresh air, which flows through a shut-off damper and a fine dust filter. In case the unit is switched off, a shut-off damper prevents uncontrolled air flow. The Class F7 fine dust filter corresponds to the hygiene requirements of VDI 6022.
For the thermal conditioning of the fresh air a heat exchanger for heat recovery and as an option a heat exchanger for heating and / or cooling. The heat recovery takes place recuperatively using a plate heat exchanger. A part of the heat in the extract air is transferred to the fresh air. In cases of sensible heating, a bypass damper opens the heat recovery bypass during the transitional period and to prevent freezing.
The supply air is discharged into the room as a displacement flow.

Heat exchanger (option)
The thermal loads of the room are dealt with by heat exchanger for heating and, if chilled water available, cooling. In the heat exchanger, the temperature of the air increases up to approx. 22 °C (static heating system exists) or with adequate hot water flow temperature up to approx. 40 °C, to cover the façade heat loss (normally no static heating system necessary).

Extract air
The exhaust air fan removes the air from the room near the sill and discharges it through the heat exchanger for heat recovery and the shut-off damper to outside. A coarse dust filter protects the fan and the heat exchanger for heat recovery from contamination.
