Effective heat storage is currently one of the central topics in the energy efficiency debate. In building engineering, companies have been researching and developing so-called Phase Change Materials (PCM), which are used as latent-heat storage systems. Paraffin is mainly used here, as its storage capacity at room air temperature level is four times greater than the capacity of water. In the changeover between the aggregate states of solid and liquid, these materials absorb heat and then release it.

For the first time TROX has now installed PCM as a storage module in an undersill unit. With this technology, the natural temperature differences between day and night can be used to dissipate thermal loads without refrigerating machine.

Another advantage of using paraffin in storage technology is its environmentally friendly characteristics. The substance is biodegradable and non-toxic.

In this new and innovative technology, TROX believes that a milestone has been achieved in the sparing use of heating and ventilation technology.
